Stephanie Rick is a mother, teacher, writer, and storyteller based in Los Angeles, California. She received her BFA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Professional Acting from East Carolina University and later earned her teaching credentials from California State University, Northridge. She holds both a Single Subject English Credential and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in the state of California.
Stephanie is currently completing her master’s degree in English at California State University, Los Angeles, where she has been honored with multiple English Department scholarships as well as a Leader Scholarship from the CSULA Alumni Association for academic excellence and community contribution. She teaches 6th grade English, Ancient Civilizations, and Theatre at a middle school in LAUSD.
Before turning her focus fully to writing and education, Stephanie spent several years as the singer and lyricist for the indie band, FLORALS (2012–2016). The band released an EP, Later Age, and a full-length album, Kin of Mine, both of which are available on Spotify.
Her writing often explores fictionalized versions of real events from her life, blending emotional truth with surreal or absurdist elements. She is currently at work on a novel about generational inheritance and identity that incorporates magical realism elements. Outside of writing and teaching, Stephanie enjoys painting with watercolor, cooking vegetarian meals and daydreaming about the moment she’ll finally hear her name called to the stage as a storyteller at The Moth—a dream she fully intends to make a reality someday.
